Marlene Frances Roberts, 78, of Holland, OH, transitioned from this earthly plane, carried on angels wings back to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania, OH. Born Oct 13, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of Robert H. and Esther (Schultz) Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Dolores and Gloria, and her son, Robert Thompson. Surviving are her children, Susan Thompson, Sharon (Keith) Brower, James Thompson, Catherine Oberly, Mary (Matthew) Carena, along with 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and 5 nephews.
She graduated from Burnham H.S., Sylvania, Ohio in 1956. She looked forward to attending her annual reunions. She had a great talent for baking cookies and decorating cakes.
She celebrated over 35 years of sobriety. Her life’s mission was to help as many people as possible, get and remain sober.
With twinkling, bright blue eyes, Marlene always had a smile for everyone. She could often be heard singing songs, bringing joy to those around her. She had a great passion for the sun, and could be seen tanning most every sunny day with a bright orange safety flag on the back of her wheel chair.
She always looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marlene’s family wishes to thank the staff of Promedica Ebeid Hospice for their attentive care and comfort throughout her stay.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm, Monday, June 12, 2017, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where a celebration of her life will be held at 7:30 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Promedica Ebeid Hospice, in Marlene’s name.
